The selfish need to be seen

why do people want to be seen rather than to BE? Being itself is the primary meaning of our life. the primitive selfish desire to be seen when doing something is has to be overcome. Of course that everyone likes to be praised but the true meaning is in us acknowledging the act to be good even if no one praises me for it.
