When I read a book where there are more stories which get intertwined in the end I think what happens when two protagonists who do not know themselves but whom the reader knows meet. One one gets a sense of trustworthiness when a protagonist A unintentionally meets thr protagonist B and sees the actions describe from the point-of-view of the protagonist B from a different perspective. We see something known already from a perspective of a different person. Thus we get a sense of familiarity
