the whiter the better

the whiter the better
I read in the autobiography of Malcolm X a thesis that was tought to black people and that is that the whiter a human, the better a person.
Malcolm conjectures that black people consider mulatoes better subconsciously because of that. this kind of stereotyping rule has ramifications even today. it may not be manifested in everyday life but take for example positive discrimination. I think that in order to show that certain companis do not discriminate, they hire a prototype of a minority which they are accused of discriminating. similar event happened to me while I was driving and was not obeyed by a driver next to me. I saw that there was a group of gypsies and I reasoned that that was the reason why they did not let me go in front of them because a white (the whiter the better) driver would yield. here I realized that subconsciously I also live according to stereotypes. similarly with women. There are many survey that women in fact are not worse drivers than men but they are told that they are and that is paradoxically the reason the drive probably with no such certainty as men. women do take these reproaches that are not based on any racional argument seriously. when I see a woman driving who makes a mistake I subconsciously vindicate her behavior on the basis of her sex. when a man does a mistake I subconsciously say to myself that he has a bad day or something irrelevant like. I think that these patters that we live by are very deeply rooted and must be actively and seriously analyzed and decomposed so that we are capable of seeing not so blurilly but clearly based not on stereotypes but on personal traits and qualities.

being independent?

i found my old t-shirt which i had inscribed with ‘Independent’, to show that i am not depending on anybody. I do not say that some people, maybe we all went through a phase of rebellion against anything and everything, usually in the adolscence period. What is immoral about such an inscription? On one hand,we all should be independent, live our own way,do not listen to persuasions of other but follow the dictates of our hearts, but on the other, there is always a certain dependence-either on community or family or on some higher being,on God-here the dependence is inevitable and if one does not accept such dependence but even wears such a sign od rebellion against God on his shirt, then such a behaviour is immoral and despicable. The immorality lies basically in self-damaging features. If one does not accept that his life depends on the always loving will of God,then the one hurts oneself.

The choice to be with God

the choice to be with God or the choice to be in a marriage should not be found on the outer factors for example Beauty pleasure feelings and so on but on my own conscious choice. Faith isn’t always pleasurable. God’s ways are sometimes very painful so is marriage. My wife won’t be always beautiful but never the less I want to be with her. It is my choice. even though now she may be beautiful it is important to know that I want to be with her even though she would not be and will not be always physically attractive . same with God. I want to be faithful because my heart tells me so and all empirical evidence may claim the opposite. I should stand by what I believe is right even though everything May support opposite. This is inevitability of God .if I relativize Everything then I am God-less . if I find my heart’s voice then I know always what is right and what is wrong. We may never know the truth but belief is even more important than truth because belief is real . Take for example abortions. If I’m told to have a mutilated child and am recommended to have an abortion then I may logically follow what is easier for me. on the other hand if I believe in sacredness of life then I would never let any soul to die. Abortion is as well as anti conception always the easy choice. I do not want to sound dogmatic and say that all abortions and all anti conception cases are wrong or evil but it seems to me very improbable that there could be any good in it. Abstractly we can say that these things are evil but concrete cases and concrete people have to decide for themselves. Everyone is responsible only for his or hers own salvation . I cannot judge if someone else’s actions are good or evil because their conscience and their freedom is their uniqueness but not mine. I can only decide for myself what I do . it is important to tell other people what I think is good or evil but I must always know that I never know for sure. I can only be sure about my own conscience and my own choices.

Human potential to be good

Is it really necessary to compromise with evil? it is very clear that people are lazy, prone to do pleasurable egotistical things. Yes we know that. This is very clearly seen throughout history. Nevertheless there are exceptions. these exceptions are to be looked up to. I had a discussion with my father who told me that people are basically higher animals and that there is no reason to change them but rather constraint them so that we can leave in the society in a partial peace . I don’t think that this is the best way. Of course people are likely to do easy and usually bad things but we are all God’s creation and have a potential to overcome our egoism . In other words if I accept that people are evil and that we need repressive authorities in order to secure safety then I don’t believe in goodness. In my view the most important thing is to understand that people are egotistical but has a potential to overcome it and be good. It is necessary to believe in goodness not in an inevitable egoism of people. I do not contradict good people usually want to do bad things because the good are usually more difficult and demanding but the essential difference is in seeing humans potential to overcome its evil tendencies . One can either believe in goodness or don’t believe and then we need more prisons and repressive apparatuses. Is it better to be skeptical of believe in goodness? The answer is up to you

Right to vengeance

I would like to focus on evil characters in Shakespeare’s plays. Iago in Othello and Edmond in King Lear are both driven by vengeance. What is the source of their anger . in the former it is color of his skin and in the latter it is his out of wedlock status. It is terribly important to understand that their vengeance is logical but not justifiable. It is natural for human to fight against injustice. injustice of being seen inferior because of any given asset is very strong. But even a flagrant injustice doesn’t justify use of evil tools.  Martin Luther King Junior advocated non-violent approach.it is very sad when people although suffering some great injustice take justice in their hands and basically become worse than their former oppressors.
