Clientelism and meritocracy

Clientelism and meritocracy destroy trust in human relatinships. If one helps only those who are benefitial for him then he is not trustworthy for others but not even for the one who is actually favored by the powers that be because once he loses his position and becomes no more benefitial then he loses also his meriticracy and is no more interesting for those who apply meritocracy and clientelism. As long as we keep the equal rights among us and do not see some people as merits and some as losers then we also uphold the civilisation we have now.

reconciliation

Yesterday I was waiting for beers at a bar with my friend Kate. We were having a very Lively conversation and suddenly a friend of ours whom I haven’t seen for some months approached us. We werent expecting him and he wasn’t really a friend of mine but someone I talked to involuntarily but didn’t like. First thing that came to my mind was to ignore him and avoid him but then I realized that my ego desire of Revenge should not overcome me. he came to me suspiciously expecting me to be reserved to him as usually. I handed him the beer i was waiting for and ordered another. he still was suspiciously waiting and asked if it was for him and I said that I telepathically was expecting him . I was smiling and I felt really good. Then I ordered another beer and paid for it.This reconciliation with an old (un)friend of mine really made my day and also his day.

suffering

God doesnt want us to suffer for nothing,it is necessary to love the suffering we go through in order to earn heaven. To suffer in order to think i do a good thing is meaningless. I do not claim that we should intentionally be looking for the suffering but if suffering comes then we should not be despondent. We should be trying to be healed via earthly methods but always should bear in mind that God’s will may not be that we are healed. the meaning of life is not to survive it or or live as long as possible but to do what one has been chosen to do. the length of our life is irrelevant if we do good.

A short meditation on Lord’s Prayer

In this entry I would like to meditate a little bit about Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. This first sentence basically means that one should accept that there is something more in this life than just one selfs. this could be applied to Believers and non-believers( if there is a difference) as well. For me this first sentence is the most important because it wants to help us too experience humbleness before a higher power. People who don’t believe in God can at least acknowledge that in life there could be something more than just our Limited reason, brain, body or anything that people consider Superior.

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. The second sentence is basically a second part that constitutes completion of humbleness before God. This is more spiritual than the first part because we not only accept that there is a God but willingly want to follow his will and not ours. This is more difficult for non-believers to accept if they accept the first part at all. The first step is to accept that there might be a higher power or God and the second step is to let our hearts be open to his will. It says that we should not follow our egoistic, base desires but should do what we feel is good, what our Conscience Says that is good ,which is God’s voice. It is difficult to prove that all humans have a conscience and I usually advise people to ask themselves what is either easy and pleasurable or difficult . Things that are difficult are usually worth striving for. Things that are easy are usually pleasurable but not in the sense of spiritual welfare. Spiritual pleasure is what comes from difficult things. I had a discussion yesterday with my cousin whom I tried to convince that having sex with his girlfriend prior to marriage is a very easy thing to do and that is why I think it is worth waiting until marriage with it. I work as a social worker and People I work with have severe mental handicaps, have problems with eating, are not able to use a toilet, but all of them have certain sexual appetites and preferences. Having sex as soon as possible is i thus concluded easier than using a toilet, that is why I think that the importance of sex should not be overestimated. Copulation is one of the easiest things in the world and considering it difficult and thus worth attention and admiration says something about the character of the one who claims such things. By this I do not want to sound conservative, anti-sexual, puritanic or frigid but in todays over sexual society when it is difficult to sell anything without a naked, usually women body, the nakedness and body is really overestimated.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. This further advises us to have faith in God and not let ourselves be guided by our desires. we should not of course just wait for God to bring us what we need but basically God is the first to whom we should turn when we want something. First thing we should do is to ask God and our conscience whether what we want is really what he should want. Only then should we work on getting the things we think we need. forgiveness is attribute of God and we should try to be as good as possible. We should not want to be exactly like God, this would be blasphemous, we should acknowledge that we will never be like God but should strive for being like Him. Forgiveness is the greatest attribute of God because if God wouldn’t forgive us then we would be dammed forever. That is why he also should be forgiving because if we do not forgive then God will not forgive us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Lost part again deepens our faith in God and says that if we put our faith in him, then he will help us to not be deluded by any Temptation we can encounter. God does not want us to be tempted just for fun and we never know whether things that encounter us our by God or by evil. If we trust in Him then he will not lead us into temptation. Everything that happens to us happens for some reason. We may not know whether things that encounter us are by God or by evil and we do not need to know it. Temptation just comes, what we do with it is either good or evil. If we have faith then any Temptation that comes will come good.

Absurdity of swearing

I find myself swearing so many times about totally absurd things. This brings me to a question-can there be a meaningful swearing? Is not swearing just a way to releive tension,and if it is so,is there something bad about it? If someone uses a swear word in order to emphasize something it,to add strength to my words,to make them effective if other means of communication are futile,then such a usage may not be wrong. It is always important to distinguish between usage of such words to make myself look tough(for example among friends to strengthen my position),which is the same as smoking,stealing etc. Using swear words in order to elevate my ego inevitable brings us to a vicious circle-there is not a way how to elevate it endlessly. This bring the young people to a criminal carreer,from swearing,stealing to assault and even worse to show the community that they are tough. If the children are not helped in their beginning in such communities of “friends”,then there is a danger od their criminal future. The children must be shown that swearing to look better in the eyes of their companions does not make them so,just the opposite unfortunately. It may of course strenghten a collective identity for a while,but things that harm me (swearing) or others (stealing) are nothing to be proud of. The need to look good (very often in the eyes of the other sex) is a residue from people prehistoric past. There was a time when the law of jungle and strength was the only way to survive,attract a mating partner,exhibit power etc. Today the power to help others,although they may become more powerful than myself she be upheld. Helping other even though they may then not help me should not make me careless to their plight. In social care this is very often the case. Is a social care worker helps his client so that he does not need social service any more,he looses a client. Nevertheless,such help is meaningful. It is the opposite to the capitalistic system which wants to attain and retain as many clients as possible. There is something more than just keeping myslef stronger than others. When i try to do good,then such action is meaningful even though i may consequently become weeker(or those i helped stronger and use the strength to hurt me).
